San Francisco (September 28, 2022) -- Metrus Energy, an Energy as a Service (EaaS) and building efficiency market leader, today announced a Sustainable Energy Services Agreement (SESA) with the University of Northwestern Ohio (UNOH).
The construction work for the $3.1 million project will take place across 28 buildings on the school’s campus in Lima, OH, and it will cover a range of facilities including academic, residential, athletic, retail and staff buildings. The SESA project will replace critical assets on campus, help address deferred maintenance and provide healthier and more comfortable facilities for students and staff.
The efficiency upgrades that will be installed on campus include: LED light upgrades, HVAC replacements, HVAC motor upgrades as well as new water and conservation systems. These efficiency measures will produce an annual savings of 957 metric tons of CO2. In addition, the expected electric savings will be 1,941,582 kWh/yr and will result in water savings of 7,366 kgal/yr.
“Implementing broad-ranging upgrades for our buildings and facilities will do more than just save UNOH energy and water - it will reduce operational costs, simplify facility maintenance, and enhance the comfort of our students and staff,” said Steven Brown, Vice President of Property Management, UNOH.
“From a financial standpoint, being able to pay for critical new equipment and facility upgrades from energy and water savings is a big win-win for us and allows us to remain laser-focused on providing our community with a world-class education,” said James Bronder, CFO, UNOH.
“Metrus is pleased to be providing UNOH with a financing solution that will lower their operating expenses while improving the sustainability of their operations,” said John Jackson, Project Development Manager, Metrus Energy. “Our Sustainable Energy Services Agreement is a flexible solution that provides colleges and universities a path to implementing key facility improvements while also accomplishing their sustainability goals.”
Metrus partnered with KeyBank Equipment Finance and Centrica Business Solutions, which will provide engineering, construction, and ongoing measurement and verification services.
