SUMMARY: The greenest source of energy available to power our economy is energy efficiency. From an application perspective, energy efficiency provides constant “generation” for better utility system operation, has no geographical limits, and is already competitive from a capital cost standpoint. From an environmental perspective, energy efficiency requires no additional resources such as land and water—whereas even renewable energy requires the construction of generation facilities and transmission lines.</td>

SUMMARY: The lack of customized financing solutions remains a significant impediment to wide-scale adoption of energy efficiency.  Prospective customers are typically not interested in using their own capital to fund energy efficiency projects. Research and development initiatives have advanced energy efficiency technologies. But customers need innovative financing solutions to adopt, implement and fund these products.</td>

SUMMARY: The Obama administration is devoting $150 million in stimulus money for programs that help homeowners install solar panels and other energy improvements, which they pay for over time on their property tax bills.<br />
At the same time, the two government-chartered agencies that buy and resell most home mortgages are threatening to derail the effort by warning that they might not accept loans for homes that take advantage of the special financing.</td>

SUMMARY: The practice of retrofitting buildings with simple, environmentally friendly technology like more-efficient boilers and better-quality windows has been around for years, but there is little research on how much energy these changes actually save — and by extension, how much money they can save landlords and lenders.<br />
In an effort to supply that information, Deutsche Bank Americas Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the German bank, is financing the creation of a public database of several hundred retrofitted buildings in New York City and a companion report to determine the savings from such moves.</td>

SUMMARY: As part of the Obama Administration’s commitment to increasing energy efficiency and reducing costs, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy announced today the creation of the State Energy Efficiency (SEE) Action Network.    This network is meant to help states achieve maximum cost effective energy efficiency improvements in homes, offices, buildings and industry by 2020.  Strengthening energy efficiency initiatives across the country helps to save money and protect the environment at the same time.</td>
