The commercial sector, which includes office buildings and large retail end-users, accounts for 20% percent of total U.S. energy consumption. Office buildings represent the largest share of end-use energy consumption within the commercial market and have widespread potential for lighting retrofits, heating and cooling system upgrades, and cogeneration systems. These investment opportunities are available for big box retail, hotels, pharmacy chains, grocery stores and warehouses.
