Metrus Energy, Inc is headquartered in San Francisco, California and provides capital, project development and asset management services for energy efficiency projects at large commercial, industrial and institutional facilities. Metrus offers comprehensive project financing solutions, including its innovative Efficiency Services Agreement (ESA), whereby customer repayment is based on a cost per avoided unit of realized energy savings. The Latin root metr refers to the center or the heart of an entity, which characterizes the pivotal role that Metrus plays in facilitating the development and financing of efficiency projects. As the project owner, Metrus coordinates development with the customer and the energy services company.
GoGreen Capital (GGC), an investor in Metrus, is a venture capital firm focused on the clean energy sector and invests primarily in early-stage companies in Europe and North America. GGC provides venture and development capital to a broad spectrum of companies mainly active in the following fields: energy generation, energy efficiency, energy infrastructure, energy storage, transportation, and biofuels. GGC is based in Brussels and leverages a solid track record of investments made by its shareholders in the renewable energy industry over the last 15 years, including a leading solar thermal energy supplier.
Metrus also receives support from the California Clean Energy Fund (CalCEF), which develops innovative investment strategies, policy tools, and market mechanisms that resolve key issues impacting the clean technology industry. CalCEF Innovations identifies and addresses key policy and market barriers in clean technology, in partnership with innovative companies such as Metrus, and CalCEF Capital pursues the group’s non-profit investment strategy via a fund-of-funds model, making for-profit investments in partnership with established and emerging investment managers. As an evergreen fund, any profits are reinvested in new funds, companies and programs that support CalCEF’s core mission of accelerating the adoption of clean energy technologies.
